Poker Made Simple: The Key

Poker players are constantly asking me, "What is the key to becoming a winning poker player?"

The answer is simple. Pure and simple. Develop the habit of playing winning poker.

It is not about getting great cards. Because, they don't come along frequently enough to make a significant difference.

It's not about getting lucky. Even tho' the vast majority of successful poker players will tell you they very lucky. I know I am one of the luckiest people on the planet.

It's not about knowing the smartest starting hands… pot odd and hand odds… or the importance of position. That is your foundation, and it's vital. It's the same as knowing how to glide thru a manual transmission in a racecar.

Each bit of knowledge is a building block. By itself, it is just a six-sided, solid object, which hurts when you drop it on your foot.

Put together with expertise, guidance, and a plan, those building blocks can become a fortress of power. Put together without a plan as a do-it-yourself project, they will be as functional as a house trailer with a half dozen ill thought out additions. (Try to get that image out of your mind!)

Some poker players expect they can read a few books or watch televised poker and become a winner. That's like becoming an Iron Chef from watching the cooking channel. Bring on the Alka-Seltzer!

Without an action plan and a blueprint, you can lose a lot of money at the poker table. You can also lose yourself chasing the game.

The key to consistently playing winning poker is three fold:

  • Get out of your own way and allow yourself to win
  • Expect to win and put yourself in the position to win
  • Get out of your own head and pay attention to what is directly in from of you

If that seems more like an esoteric seminar, try this on for size.

The key to playing winning poker is simple. Pay attention.

Everything counts… every thought, every word, every action, and every habit. It all counts.

It all starts with energy. We all need energy. We use energy for every movement, every action, and in every moment of every day.

Do you crave more energy at the poker table and in your every day life?

Do you feel like your energy is missing in action?

Are you wondering where you energy went?

Are you giving your energy away to everyone else without being proactive about your own?

Want more energy at the poker table? Pay attention.

Energy follows thought.

  • Pay attention to your thoughts, they become words.
  • Pay attention to your words, they become actions.
  • Pay attention to your actions, they become habits.

You can develop the habit of playing winning poker. Just pay attention.
