Are you too serious at the poker table and in life? I know I often am.
Let’s just have some fun today. I’m looking for New Year’s resolutions that will really make me laugh. I haven’t found any seriously laughable ones. I’m looking for a belly buster.

Please leave your opinion about men playing in women's tournaments… yes, no, who cares… what is on your mind? I'm looking for response from men and women. I'll publish the results in an upcoming post.

Men playing in women's poker tournaments… there is a lot of buzz this week. From the dozen or so men that competed against 1048 women in the 2011 WSOP Ladies Championship… to the 4 men, who competed against 17 women poker players, in Daytona Beach, Florida, this past Saturday.

Meet good-natured Mr X of Tampa. When he sheepishly walked up to the table, the journalist in me came out. I asked him if I could publish his picture, his name, and his story. He readily agreed. (However, since the post came out, he asked me to remove his name from the blog. I gladly complied. He is now Mr X.) Read More→

Just got a call from Las Vegas from one of my new coaching clients, who I will simply call Angela. She won her way into the WSOP Ladies Event that starts at noon Nevada time! I am so proud of her, and I would appreciate you sending Angela your positive energy by leaving a comment below.

We spent 27 minutes on the phone getting her mindset and strategy prepared for the event. That is the normal time for such a call. I'd like to tell you how a pre-event call might go. Read More→

When you discover the poker lesson in the following, please share it by leaving a comment. I dedicate this to one of my shining stars, my poker coaching client, Tania.

Poker mirrors what is going on in our lives at any one point in time. When we sit down at the poker table to compete, we take with us baggage from our life. Even tho' Maya Angelou wrote the following poem for women and I doubt she intended it as poker training, it can also benefit every man, who has ever played poker or who has a special woman in his life that is drawn to the game.

One of my coaching clients sent this to me. It touched me, made me smile, and made me say "hmmm… so very true." Thank you, Tania. Read More→

Meet the Pros Poker Boot CampAt 6'5, I look up to few people; however, I look up to Linda Johnson and Jan Fisher, two giants in the poker world. I am thrilled and elated to share the stage with both of them at Derby Lane in St Petersburg, Florida, on April 9, during our live poker boot camp. They are flying in especially for the event.

You can find out details of the event and register here.
Despite the fact that Jan fits neatly under my armpit, and I affectionately call her "Munchkin," she is one of the keenest minds in poker today. Her poker skill and wisdom is only surpassed by her wit. Read More→
In April 2010, I received the following message through my Facebook page from a woman poker player I had just befriended:

"I just wanted to tell you I went on your website over the weekend, and I am using your poker mantra, "When you can't raise, you can't call!" I have it on a big note on my computer that I keep up when I am playing online… Have to say I've only lost 2 tournaments since then. Been winning a lot. It's a really great saying. I thought if one saying could have such an effect on my play, what would your class do for my game? I really would like to bring my game up to the next level."

Poker Made Simple: The Key

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Poker players are constantly asking me, "What is the key to becoming a winning poker player?"

The answer is simple. Pure and simple. Develop the habit of playing winning poker.

It is not about getting great cards. Because, they don't come along frequently enough to make a significant difference. Read More→

Poker training and coaching is first about you. Secondly, it is about the other players. Lastly, it is about the cards.

Focusing on your abundance, one of the exercises I have my poker-coaching clients do is a 40-day gratitude journal. Each evening for 40 days, write 10 things for which you are grateful. The only rule is that each entry must be unique. Do not repeat yourself. This enables you to look for the blessings in the most remote places of your life. Read More→
