Black Diamond Charity Poker Event Great Success

Sure, I knew that poker was hot worldwide, but who would have thought that poker was on fire in Citrus County, Florida? Last night during Casino Royale at Black Diamond Ranch, people played, laughed, shouted, and had a grand ole' time. It was certainly a night to remember and the place to be.

Since everyone knows, you are not an expert until you are 100 miles or more from home, even though we have lived in Citrus County since 2001, very few people knew that I spent my time as a professional poker player and poker coach. Last night I came out of the closet. Now they know, and by golly, they love it! Besides, I came in second in the no-limit Texas Hold'em tournament, and we all know, it is more fun to win.

Poker Also Gives – Join Donna Blevins in Citrus County Florida at Poker Fundraisers

paper dolls holding handsPoker players often joke that their poker game is a charity since they donate often and generously at the poker table. However, one of the best ways to help a worthy cause while honing your skills and experiencing the thrill of the game is at charity or fund raising poker tournaments. I love them. They are fun and give many people their first opportunity to play in a structured event while allowing people to join together to lend a helping hand.

One of the best things about fund-raising poker tournaments is that they are often diamonds in your own back yard. Send me your poker fundraiser, and I will post it on my websites.

Join me at both of the following events, but come early. I have donated a mini-workshop just prior to each events to get all the participants on the same page. For those who come really early, I'll share some professional, poker strategies.

If you would like to add special training to your poker event, send me a message in the Ask Donna box in the right column. Unless I am traveling without access to the Internet, I will get back to you within 24 hours.

So what the heck is a Cooter? So the story goes and according to legend, a Cooter is a courageous turtle. For my money, a courageous turtle is exactly what you must be to go deep in any huge event like the World Series of Poker© Main Event Championship. You don't have to go to Las Vegas to practice your poker face; go to local fundraisers, like this one sponsored by the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce. The No-Limit Texas Hold'em tournament buy-in is $70 and starts promptly at 7pm at the Citrus County Auditorium, but come early for my special playing secrets.

Charity Poker Tournament Pays Big Time

Charity poker tournaments are some of the best ways to gain experience playing in structured poker tournaments while helping worthy causes. Sometimes, they are even close to home. Just ten days ago I discovered these diamonds were in my own back yard in Citrus County Florida.

On October 10, 2009, the Senior Foundation is sponsoring a Las Vegas night at the ritziest place in town, Black Diamond Ranch in LecantSenior Foundation_1o, Florida. To help the event flow smoothly, I have donated a mini-workshop just prior to the event to get all the participants on the same page. Since this charity poker tournament may be the first time many people have ever played in a structured event, I'll go over the finer points of how to play poker during a live event along with some trade secrets that will make the evening more fun and exciting.

Prior to the poker tournament, participants can also choose to experience an elegant three-course dinner at Black Diamond Country Club. Since poker tournament play continues until only one player remains standing, as players bust out they can still have fun playing other casino games with professional dealers and Las Vegas style tables.

Prizes for the evening include two, 4-day, 3-night getaways for two aboard Carnival Cruise Lines plus much more. The Senior Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization and donations are tax deductible to the fullest allowed by law. (Suggested donation: $145 per person for dinner, poker tournament and casino access)

TICKETS: I had hoped to have my shopping cart set up to help with tickets, however, just send me a message by way of the question box in the right column along with your day and evening phone numbers. We will contact you within a few hours.

For more information, call Cathy Pearson 352.527.5907 at the Citrus County Senior Foundation. Looking forward to seeing you October 10, 2009, at Black Diamond Country Club, Lecanto, Florida, for this Charity Poker Tournament.
