MindSet is very telling (no pun intended) and this photo is a practical example of how the human mind works. When I received this picture from one of my Australian coaching clients, who has a twisted sense of humor, the first thought that flashed through my mind was, “How rude.” That actually surprised me because I always open his emails with anticipation, expecting to laugh. Then, I thought, “She has to be uncomfortable!”
As I read the copy below the photo, I began to chuckle and nod my head. Below is the full photo with all the details, but I have to admit, the part of the image in the thumbnail above is what first caught my attention. Read More→

Poker mindset may depend on which side of brain you use.

Our brain is more than just a storehouse for information. It is our connection to energy. Since everything is energy, does that mean that our brain is our connection to everything?

I believe understanding our brain can help us become consistent winning poker players. What side of your brain do you use at the poker table and on a daily basis? Read More→

As a reminder, besides being Angela's first WSOP event, it was her first trip to Las Vegas. On top of that, it was one of the few times she had ever played poker live.

Below, I'll share a snapshot of her first-time experience with you. After that, I'll quickly outline how a debriefing session works. I'd also talk about mindset. Read More→

Please leave your opinion about men playing in women's tournaments… yes, no, who cares… what is on your mind? I'm looking for response from men and women. I'll publish the results in an upcoming post.

Men playing in women's poker tournaments… there is a lot of buzz this week. From the dozen or so men that competed against 1048 women in the 2011 WSOP Ladies Championship… to the 4 men, who competed against 17 women poker players, in Daytona Beach, Florida, this past Saturday.

Meet good-natured Mr X of Tampa. When he sheepishly walked up to the table, the journalist in me came out. I asked him if I could publish his picture, his name, and his story. He readily agreed. (However, since the post came out, he asked me to remove his name from the blog. I gladly complied. He is now Mr X.) Read More→

We spent 27 minutes on the phone getting her mindset and strategy prepared for the event. That is the normal time for such a call. I'd like to tell you how a pre-event call might go. Read More→

Just like most poker players from around the world, I have watched the WSOP attendance with concern after the events of Black Friday shut down online poker for United States players. I hoped and suspected that players would migrate to the World Series early in anticipation of satelliting into bigger events.

Apparently that is exactly what is happening as the Main Event draws nearer. Read More→

This was just sent out by Poker Players Alliance. It is from one of the lobbyiest that accompanied me during my recent trip to Washington DC to speak to Members of Congress about the regulation and licensing of poker in the United States. It touched my heart to know that they were, in fact, listening.
